Occurrence and etiology of bacterial canker of peach [Prunus persica (L.) batsch.] in Kashmir

Abstract

Survey conducted in two districts of Kashmir valley reveled an average disease incidence of 46.7% on twigs and 23.8 % on scaffold limbs with a corresponding % disease intensity (PDI) of 22.5 and 9.3, respectively was found in district Baramulla; whereas in district Srinagar average disease incidence of 38.9% on twigs and 23.3% on scaffold limbs with a corresponding PDI of 19.9 and 8.0, respectively was recorded. The casual pathogens were identified as Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae and P. syringae pv. morsprunorum. Morphological and biochemical characters were also studied.
