Abstract

Salicylic acid (SA) was identified as a signal molecule for systemic acquired resistance. Bare root dip in salicylic acid to tomato roots led to induction of defence mechanisms in the plant tissue and increased resistance against Meloidogyne incognita. The increase in endogenous levels of SA correlated with the less production of root galls.
