Nine insecticides viz., clothianidin 50 WDG, flubendiamide 20 WDG, flubendiamide 480 SC, λ-cyhalothrin 5 CS, indoxacarb 15 EC, acetamiprid 0.4% + cypermethrin 2% EC, acetamiprid 0.4% + quinalphos 20% EC, acetamiprid 0.4% + chlorpyriphos 20% EC and monocrotophos 36 WSC (check) were evaluated in the field during kharif 2004 and 2005 against Orseolia oryzae. The results revealed that, the gall midge incidence (silver shoot %) recorded at 15 days after spraying was the lowest in λ-cyhalothrin with 63.8% reduction over control. This was followed by acetamiprid + chlorpyriphos with 51.4% reduction in silver shoot incidence. Indoxacarb gave moderate control with only 36.3% reduction over control.
