Effect of Bt cotton on pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (saunders) infestation
Abstract
Significantly less number of rosette flowers, number of pink bollworm larvae, green boll damage and less exit holes wererecorded in Bt cotton compared to non-Bt cotton. In Bt cotton during peak flowering stage, up to 55% reduction in rosette flowers was noticed. During peak boll development period up to 85 to 75% reduction in pink bollworm larvae and green boll damage was recorded in Bt cotton compared to non-Bt cotton, respectively.
