Olfactometer bioassay with the volatiles collected by air entrainment technique

Olfactometer bioassay cue test was conducted to study the effect of cotton plant or cotton stem weevil Pempherulus affinis volatiles on host search behaviour of stem weevil in which volatiles were collected by air entrainment method. Disoriented movements of the weevil were observed (in exposure chamber of the four armed olfactometer) in control where filter papers were kept in the four arms, while significant response was observed towards the volatile blends of host plant and towards the cues emanating from the opposite sex as well.
