Abstract

Among twenty one plant extracts screened, nine showed inhibitory effect. Extracts of Zingiber officinale, Prosopis juliflora and Piper longum gave higher inhibitory activity i.e. 56, 49 and 47% respectively. Further studies on increasing dilution, storage temeprature and storage duration decreased the Blackgram Leaf Crinkle Virus (BLCV) inhibitory activity. Water fraction of plant extracts gave higher BLCV inhibitory effect than different solvent fractions and partially purified compounds.
