Abstract

Effect of various pesticides (Dimlin 25% WP, Malathion 50 EC, Indofil M-45 75% WP and bavistin 50 WP), disinfectants (sodium hypochlorite & formalin) and oil cakes (cotton & groundnut cakes) was studied on the growth of nematophagous fungus, Arthrobotrys oligospora in vitro following poison food technique. Bavistin showed the maximum inhibition followed by indofil M-45, malathion and dimlin retarted the growth up to some extent with increase in concentration. Formalin inhibited the growth completely at even lower concentrations whereas, sodium hypochlorite was found compatible with A. oligospora.. Oil cakes were well tolerated at all the concentrations and no adverse effect on the growth of A. oligospora as compared to unamended control.
