Abstract

Zinc and sulphur in soil were recognized as an important nutrient and essential for the growth and development of a plant. The investigation had identified the extent of abiotic factors influencing the prevalence and intensity of the phytonematodes. The data on functional linear regression trends confirmed uniform inverse relationships at almost all the depths and distances with zinc content of the soil while positive relationships with sulphur was observed at all the depths and distances with few exceptions at 20–40 cm vertical depth and at 90cm horizontal distance (r = -0.035; P > 0.915) during 2000–2001; at 40–60 cm vertical depth and at 30cm horizontal distance (r = - 0.031; P > 0.923) and at 20-40cm vertical depth and at both 60 and 90cm horizontal distances (r = - 0.256; P > 0.421; r = - 0.135; P > 0.675) during 2001–2002.
