Abstract

Potato Cv. Kufri Anand supported the highest number of fungal colonies (21.0 - 36.0 colonies/10 g of fresh leaf weight) while the least fungal colonies (11.2 - 28.2 colonies/10 g of fresh wt. of leaves) were on K. Bahar. The younger plants of potato Cv., K. Bahar and K. Sutlej showed least number of fungal colonies (20.2 & 27.0 colonies/10 g of fresh wt. of leaves, respectively). The more number of fungal colonies was seen from the early planted potato Cv. K. Bahar and K. Sutlej (30.5 & 37.7 colonies/10 g of fresh wt. of leaves, respectively). The fungicidal sprays, both mancozeb and ridomil MZ--72 reduced the recovery of phylloplane fungi from sprayed plots. Out of seven phylloplane fungi, only three fungi viz., Fusarium spp., Trichoderma spp., Aspergillus spp., showed antagonistic potential against Phytophthora infestans, causal agent of late blight of potato.
