Abstract

The comparative efficacy of insecticides against leafhopper, Amrasca biguttula biguttula incidence on egg plant, was field studied. Among the insecticides tested four sprays with cartap hydrochloride 50SP at 0.05% + diflubenzuron 25WP @ 0.012% @ 10 days intervals commencing with 30 days after transplanting was found to be most effective in restricting leaf hopper population to a minimum (2.6/3 leaves) as compared with the population in untreated control (12.2/3 leaves). The combination of azadirachtin 0.03% at 0.09% + carbaryl 50WP @ 0.2% was found to be the next effective treatment against the sucking insect. The total fruit yield based upon four pickings also showed the superiority of the former treatment.
