Abstract

Disease severity and spore load of the pathogen was observed higher in older leaves of a susceptible genotype. Stomatal frequency and stomatal size in terms of length and breadth of stomata of both abaxial and adaxial surface was found to be highly correlated with disease severity. On the other hand, leaf thickness and epidermal layer-cum-cuticle thickness were found to play an insignificant role in disease severity. The results indicated that the pathogen depends more on stomatal entry for host colonization than other modes of entry.
