Abstract

The disease incidence was greatly reduced with corresponding increase in yield of the crop when sowing was delayed to the end of July in comparison to early sowing. Wider inter row spacing (50 cm) was less favourable for development of urd bean blight as comapred to narrow inter now spacing (10 cm). Weed free plots showed less disease incidence than weed infested plots. In vitro evaluation of fungicides against the blight causing pathogen, Colletotricum truncatum, bevistin, benlate, cantaf, calixin, ceresan wet, kitazin, kavach, topsin-M, tilt and vitavax inhibited cent per cen mycelial growth of the pathogen. Seed treated with benlate and bavistin inhibited 80% seed borne infection. Two field trials, bavistin (0.1%) showed 81.2% and 79.7% disease control and 76.9% and 72.9% increase in yield of urd bean, respectively over check.
