Abstract

Incidence of Leucinodes orbonalis in terms of shoot infestation was observed during third week of February 2006 and the incidence had non-significant relationship with temperature, relative humidity and rainfall but significant relationship with coccinellids and spiders. The results of chemical control trial indicated that profenofos @ 0.1% and spinosad @ 0.015% were most effective in reduction of shoot infestation of L. orbonalis besides recording higher brinjal fruit yield. Among the 15 treatments tested, profenofos was the most effective followed by spinosad individually and their combinations with novaluron and azadirachtin were highly effective in reducing the population as well as in giving higher yields.
