Abstract

Genotypes of chilli with varying degree of resistance revealed differences in their ability to support nematode penetration, development and reproduction. In resistant genotype, 1 J2 penetrated the root but further development was not found and remained vermiform. No galling occurred and no egg mass developed. But in moderately resistant genotype, the nematode was able to complete its life cycle which was prolonged when compared to susceptible genotype. The number of eggs/egg mass was also more in susceptible genotype than in moderately resistant.
