Abstract

The most effective compond observed against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. vasinfectum was 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzalmalononitrile (III) with ED50 value of 96 ppm. The compound 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzalnitromethane (VIII) with ED50 value of 69 and 160 ppm was found to possessed promising activity against Alternaria alternata and Drechstera oryzae, respectively. 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzalnitromethane (VIII) was also found to be highly effective in reducing the late blight disease of potato caused by Phytophthora infestans.
