Abstract

The maximum duration of egg, larva and pusa were 5, 18 and 11 days, respectively. The net reproductive rate (Ro) was 160.96 females with a mean length of generation (T) of 38.9 days. The intrinsic rate of natural increase in numbers (rm) was 0.1305 females/female/day with a daily finite rate of increase () of 1.1394 females/female/day and the population would be able to multiply 2.4931 times/week. The hypothetical F2 females were worked out to be 25908.12. the % contribution of eggs, larva, pupa and adults were 58.5, 38.3, 2.9 and 0.5%, respectively at stable age distribution of L. orbonalis on brinjal. The life expectancy of newly deposited eggs was only 14.26 days. The expectancy of further life was 3.32 days at the time of adult emergence. The life expectancy of L. orbonalis declined gradually with the advancement of development.
