Cultural media, temperature, pH, host range studies revealed that Richard media supported best growth of the pathogen with 89.0 mm dia. mycelial growth against 58.5 mm in leaf decoction media. Similarly, excellent sporulation occured at pH 6.5 followed pH 6.0. The optimum temperature for growth and sporulation was recorded at 28°C. The host range study revealed that Bipolaris sorokiniana can be infected oat barley, maize, rice and wild canary grass and linseed plant indicated that it had wide range hosts. The pathogen also responnsed the fungicides in different way and Zineb, Thiram, TPTA and Ziram completely inhibited the radial growth of B. sorokiniana in vitro.
