Effect of Control Released Formulation of Phorate against Meloidogyne incognita
Abstract
LC50 value of phorate (technical material) after screening against J2 of Meloidogyne incognita was calculated to be 0.0031 μg ml and 0.00071 μg ml−1 at 24 and 48 hrs. exposures, respectively. Based on relative toxicity, phorate SX-10 was more effective in suppressing the J2 penetration and subsequent development of M. incognita as compared to phorate 10G. Fecundity of the nematode was also reduced by the bio degradable polymeric formulation as the number of females recorded on 35th day of inoculation were 5.0, 6.0 and 2.0 to phorate SX10 as compared to 29.0, 19.0 and 24.0 in 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 kg ha−1 in phorate 10G, respectively. The release rate of active ingrediant was reduced in polymeric controlled release formulation of phorate. The dissipation rate of commercial formulation was fast compared to CR formulation. The maximum concentration of active ingrediant was observed on 2nd to 7th day and was reduced to very low concentration by 28th day. CRF was found in effective concentration in soil till 14th day of inoculation, however effective concentration was found till 42nd day. Thus, a single dose of CRF was found sufficient throughout the crop growth of brinjal to protect the crop from M. incognita attack.
