Abstract

Plant growth characters of sunflower were significantly enhanced with the application of aqueous and acetone extracts of effective concentrations of leaves and roots of Calotropis procera, Solanum surattense, Datura stramonium and Parthenium hysterophorus. Growth of sunflower including shoot, root length, dry weights of shoot and root were significantly high in aqueous extracts of Calotropis leaf and root as against Parthenium, Solanum and Daturaleaf and root extracts. All the treatments of acetone extracts, Calotropis and Parthenium root were effective in enhancing growth parameters of sunflower. The population of R. reniformis in soil and root, 100 days after inoculation showed significant reduction of nematode population in both extracts of Calotropis leaf and root.
