Abstract

Extract of Cassia fistula was effective as antifeeding response, Sanbucus nigra was having repelling response whereas Clitoria ternatea was quiet toxic to 4th stage larvae of Helicoverpa armigera. Since the test insect is a polyphagons, various responses were due to the active principles present in the plant species. Antifeeding was affected by glucosides, repellant response was attributed to anthroquinone derivatives whereas toxic effect was due to oils, razin and tarnin present in all plant species tested against H. armigera.
