Abstract

Based on effectiveness of treatments in reducing the incidence of Scirpophaga incertulas, Carbofuran, betacyfluthrin, chlorpyriphos and biolep were found most effective as these treatments registered comparatively low incidence of S. incertulas. The release of bio-agent, Trichogramma chilonis was also found effective in reducing the incidence of S. incertulas, which was observed to be superior over the treatments viz., nimbecidine, neemarin and halt. The maximum mean grain yield was obtained in plots treated with carbofuran (26.01 q/ha) followed by betacyfluthirn (24.24 q/ha) and chlorpyriphos (23.21 q/ha). The maximum return in terms of cost: benefit ratio was obtained from plots treated with betacyfluthrin followed by T. chilonis.
