Abstract

Alkathene sheet (400 gauge, 30 cm wide) was tied around the tree trunk and 30 cm above ground level. The mealy bug appeared in 47th SW on tree base. While, on the tree trunk, it was appeared 50th SW (6.5 bugs/trunk). However, mealy bugs appeared in 1st SW on the terminal panicles. The population at this stage was 8.0 bugs/panicle during 2004–2005 and 4.5 bugs/panicles in 1st SW during 2005–2006. The optimum mealy bug population increased on mango tree base and tree trunk in 6th SW. However, on the mango panicles, optimum mealy bug population was recorded 14 10th SW. The population at this stage was 59.3 bugs on the panicles during 2004–2005 and 57.4 bugs/tree twig in 10th SW during 2005–2006. White coloured trap attracted significantly more number of mango mealy bugs followed by yellow trap, while minimum number of bugs trapped in green trap followed by black trap during both the years.
