Abstract

Five combinations of casing material revealed that casing mixture of two year old cowdung+soil (2:1) and two year old cowdung + spent compost of oyster mushroom + soil (1:1:1) were found to be the best for getting higher yield of Tricholoma crassa as compared to other casing mixtures tried. CAC'ing resulted in significant increase in mushroom yield and number of fruit bodies of T. crassa. with increase in CAC'ing rate, the number of fruit bodies as well as total yield also increased. CAC'ing with substrate spawn was found better than grain spawn. CAC'ing with substrate spawn at the rate of 1.5% gave significantly higher yield.
