The seedlings of Vigna unguiculata were inoculated with 10,100,1000 and 10000 freshly hatched J2 of M.incognita Race-1/pot. Significant reduction in growth parameters were recorded at 1000 and 10000 juveniles/plant. Number of galls/plant, eggmass/plant, eggs/eggmass and soil population of M.incognita was observed highest in maximum inoculum level. However, multiplication rate of total population was roughly 124 times in case of 10 J2 and 2.99 times in case of 10,000 J2. The damaging threshold in cowpea was found J2/g in the present investigation.
