Abstract

Fifty two isolates of Trichoderma spp. and nineteen isolates of fluorescent pseudomonad were screened for their biocontrol abilities against isolates of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae obtained from different rice growing areas of several states. Both rice leaf and soil isolates of fungal and bacterial bioagents had huge variability in respect of their antagonistic potential towards pathogen isolates. Pantnagar isolate of Trichoderma spp. showed 100 % inhibition of radial growth of Pantnagar isolate of X. oryzae pv. oryzae as well as isolates from other locations. Kashipur isolates of Trichoderma spp. showed 89.8 % inhibition of radial growth of Kashipur isolate of pathogen however, Pantnagar and Haldwani isolates of Trichoderma spp. showed 100 % inhibition of Kashipur isolate of pathogen
