Abstract

Seed treatment with different concentrations of rocket-salad extract resulted in significant reduction in root-knot development and improvement in root nodulation, plant growth and chlorophyll content of lentil cv. K-75. Maximum inhibition in root-knot development was observed in plants grown from seeds soaked in ‘S’ concentration of rocket-salad leaf extract for 24 hrs duration followed by plants raised from seeds soaked in S/2and S/10 concentrations. Similarly, when treated seeds were sown in clay pots amended with oil cakes and leaves of neem, there was significant reduction in the root-knot development caused by M. incognita and improvement in plant growth and chlorophyll content of lentil. The highest inhibition in root-knot development and improvement in root nodulation, plant growth and chlorophyll content was observed in neem cake treated plants grown from seeds soaked in ‘S’ concentration of rocket-salad extract followed by castor cake, neem leaf and castor leaf treated plants, respectively.
