Effect of essential oil extract of medicinal plants against root knot nematode on Kidney bean

Abstract

Oil extracts of Vitex negundo, Solanum xanthocarpum, Adhatoda vasica, Centella asiatica and Jatropha curcas were tested as seed soaking on Kidney bean against root knot nematode. The seeds were soaked in 100ppm concentration for 24 hours and plants treated with essential oil extract of Adhatoda vasica showed improvement in plant growth and reduction in diseases incidence when compared with other treated plants. Essential oil extracts of Solanum xanthocarpum was found least effective.
