The new insecticides like spinetoram 12% SC @ 450 ml/ha, rynaxypyr 20 SC @ 100 ml/ha were significantly effective and on par with commonly recommended insecticides viz. profenophos 50 EC @ 1250 ml/ha, triazophos 40 EC @ 800 ml/ha, quinalphos 25 EC @ 1500 ml/ha and thiamethoxam 25 WG @ 100 g/ha. These insecticides were found effective and recorded less than 1 larva/mrl. From the overall mean, rynaxypyr 20 SC @ 100 ml/ha, recorded lowest stem tunnelling (1.4%) caused by maggot of stem fly. Spinetoram 12% SC @ 450 ml/ha recorded significantly minimum plant infestation caused by girdle beetle (4.5%). The highest mean yield 1275 kg/ha was recorded with rynaxypyr 20 SC @ 100 ml/ha which was 495 kg (63.4%) more than the control. Other treatments gave additional yield ranged from 310 to 400 kg/ha. Spraying of triazophos was economical and most remunerative recorded 1: 7.32 ICBR, followed by profenophos 50 EC @ 1250 ml/ha (1:5.36) and quinalphos 25 EC @ 1500 ml/ha (1:5.09).
