Controlled release formulations of carbofuran were prepared using amphiphilic polymers based on different polyethylene glycols of different molecular weights and polylactic acids synthesized using stannous chloride di hydride. The bioefficacy of controlled release formulations with respect to commercial formulation was evaluated against Bemisia tabaci in soybean. All the controlled release formulations provided better control of YMV than the commercial formulation (Furadan 3G) and recorded better yield than control. There was no adverse effect on the nodulation pattern due to the seed treatment by carbofuran. No detectable residues were found in the soil and in soybean seeds after harvest.
