Abstract

GUS is a technique to predict the ability of a chemical to contaminate groundwater and was used for assessing leaching potential of pesticides in Indian soils. On the basis of estimated GUS values, atrazine, metalyxyl, imidcloprid are in the category of pesticides with the high to very high potential to contaminate groundwater. GUS proved to be a convenient tool to predict the leaching potential of pesticides in Indian soils and conform the results obtained from the field experiments.
