Abstract

In a pot culture study, the effect of organic amendments using neem cake (Azadirachta indica), simarouba seed powder each at three dosages of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5g and a nematicide, carbofuran 3G as standard check @ 16.5mg/kg in naturally infested soil with Rotylenchulus reniformis were tested for the development of reniform nematode in black gram. Barring the untreated control, all other treatment reduced R. reniformis population in soil and improved the plant growth in the black gram. But the performance of simarouba seed powder @1.5g/kg soil was found significantly the best treatment in declining the reniform nematode population greatly along with luxuriant growth of the plants followed by Simarouba seed powder @ 1g/kg soil.
