Two field trials were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of emamectin benzoate 5 WSG, a new formulation against cotton bollworm complex compared to commercial Proclaim® (Emamectin benzoate 5 SG), endosulfan 35 EC and indoxacarb 14.5 SC, during first season at Odayampalayam (cv.-Surabhi) and second season at Allappalayam (cv. Rasi 2000). All the doses of emamectin benzoate 5 WSG (EB) were highly effective in minimizing the square and boll damage caused by bollworm complex, compared to endosulfan and indoxacarb. The lowest % boll and locule damage was recorded with EB at 9 g a.i. ha−1 and was at par with the higher doses of insecticide used with respect to seed cotton yield.
