Abstract

The results revealed that the infestation and severity of insect pests were highly influenced by weather parameters. Population of aphid reached its peak (6.80 & 7.20/leaf) during March, 2014 and 2015, respectively. The maximum population of thrips (1.40/leaf) was observed during April, 2014 and (1.53/leaf) during March, 2015. The peak incidence of mite (28.0/leaf) was recorded during April, 2015 and (26.6/leaf) during March, 2015. Coccinella transversalis and Micraspis discolor were the most dominant predator species observed throughout the cropping season. The maximum population of coccinellids (1.86 & 1.80/plant) was observed during March, 2014 and 2015, respectively. All the insect population and coccinellid predators showed significant positive correlation with maximum temperature.
