Abstract

Detection of alternate weed and crop hosts of Mungbean Yellow Mosaic India Virus (MYMIV) at molecular level was carried out during kharif 2016. Among ten different weed species reported as alternate hosts of MYMIV on the basis of Yellow Mosaic Diseases (YMD) symptoms, only four viz., Ageratum conizoides, Vigna trilobata, Corchorus olitorius and Alternanthera sessilis were found to be true alternate hosts of MYMIV. Six crop hosts namely; Cajanus cajan, Glycine max, Phaseolus vulgaris, Vigna mungo, Vigna radiata and Vigna unguiculata were found to be true alternative crop hosts of MYMIV. There was some extent of positive correlation exhibited between the presence of YMD symptoms and presence of virus in weed hosts. Use of MYMIV specific molecular markers (DNA-A & DNA-B) could be suitable technique to detect alternate hosts of MYMIV.
