Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, O.U.A.T., Bhubaneswar-751 003 (Odisha), India

Abstract

A field trial was conducted during kharif, 2016 and rabi, 2016–17 to study the efficacy of 8 sprayable chemicals viz., Tolfenpyrad 15 EC @ 150g a.i./ha, Fipronil 5 SC @ 50g a.i./ha, Indoxacarb 14.5 SC @ 72.5g a.i./ha, Flubendiamide 480 SC @ 78.70g a.i./ha, Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 30.83g a.i./ha, Spinosad 45 SC @ 75g a.i./ha, Cartap hydrochloride 50 SP @ 375g a.i./ha and Acephate 75 SP @ 375g a.i./ha against the Hadda beetle, Henosepilachna vigintioctopunctata infesting cucumber. The results revealed that 15 days after application of the pesticides, significantly lowest population of Hadda beetle adults/5 leaves (0.44–0.67) was recorded in the treatments Acephate 75 SP @ 375g a.i/ha, Cartap hydrochloride 50 SP @ 375g a.i/ha, Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 30.83g a.i/ha and Flubendiamide 480 SC @ 78.7g a.i/ha during kharif, 2016 with 75.8–84.1% reduction in the population over control (4.1) and, during rabi 2016–17, the same four treatments showed superior control of the pest (0.67–1.00) with 76.9–84.5% reduction over control.
