Relative efficiency of UV and LED lights in attracting and trapping of nocturnal Insect pests

The results of experiments using light sources UV Black light lamp (8+8 watt) used in light trap have given very good response in terms of light trap catches. LED (white) 15 watt lamp has consistently proved very ineffective, a very poor source of light for attraction of insects. It is recommended to use 15-20 watt UV lamp (BL/ BLB) (15 watt or two tubes of 8 watt ( 8+8 or 16 watt) instead of 125 / 160 watt mercury vapor lamp for its use in light trap as survey and pest control tool.
