Abstract

The efficacy of biological control agents viz. Trichoderma harzianum, Trichoderma viride, Trichoderma reesei, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Trichoderma harzianum + Pseudomonas fluorescens (consortia), and Trichoderma viride + Pseudomonas fluorescens (consortia) were tested for their antagonistic ability against Pythium aphanidermatum both in vitro and in vivo. Among the biological control agents assayed, combined application of BCAs (T. harzianum + P. fluorescens and T. viride + P. fluorescens) wasfound to be the most effective against rhizome rot of gingerin dual culture under in vitro. Under field conditions, application of T. viride + P. fluorescens (2.5+2.5 ml 1000 ml-1 of water) i.e.@ 100ml biocontrol suspension per plant found to be the most effective against rhizome rot of ginger, observations like plant height (47.54 cm), number of tillers (4.56), fresh weight (133.34gm), dry weight (19.54gm) and percent rhizome rot (18.67%) were observed with respectively.
