Pathogenesis-related proteins (PR Proteins) play a major role in suppressing the plant parasitic nematodes. PR proteins can be induced by the application of various biocontrol agents to confer resistance against nematodes. Application of Rhizophagus intraradices @ 10 g/plant enhanced the total protein and phenol content in the tomato plants compared to nematode Meloidogyne incognita alone inoculated plants. The enzymatic activity of polyphenol oxidase, phenylalanine ammonia lyase, and acid phosphatase attained maximum in R. intraradices inoculatedtomato roots compared to untreated plants. The expression of pathogenesis-related (PR) protein, peroxidase (PO), and reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging protein, superoxide dismutase (SOD) were observed in R. intraradices treated tomato plants using SDS-PAGE.
