Effect of sodium fluoride salinization on seed germination of Matricaria chamomilla

Abstract

A laboratory trial was conducted to study the influence of severity and magnitude of the problems relating to irrigation with saline water. Many a times presence of fluorides associated with salinity was reported (Chatterji and Agarwal 1978). When present beyond limit it may toxic to seed germination and plant growth (Paliwal, 1972). Therefore present investigations was carried out to study the effect of fluoride treatment with regard to seed germination of Matricariachamomilla.

A medicinal plant that is widely cultivated in salt effected soil. M.chamomilla is a moderately salt tolerant crop during its growth but high concentration of sodium fluoride effect the seed germination.
