Abstract

India is a country of population over one billion and half of the population below the age of 25 years. With the advent of globalisation, commercialization and technological development that has speeded exposure to business environmental factor. Every new generation has its own characteristics and enjoys a different life style within this purview. The changing influence of western societies, complexity of life and technology advancement has made the use of services inevitable. Telecommnication has emerged out one of the most sought services that are used by all segments of people especially the.;er generation because of its multi-utility and advancement in technology. Mobile services have added new avenues. Undoughtly, the success of service providers largely depends on the younger generation.

There is growing market for services and increasing dominance of services in economies worldwide. Service contributed as march 68.6 per cent of the overall average growth in GDP in the last five years from 2002–03 to 2006–07. For the period of 126-07 contribution to India's GDP is 55.1 per cent.

In this paper attempt has been made to depict student's preference on the use of cell phone services an empirical study in Delhi for convent public schools and management institutes. Secondly, attempt has been made to overview Indian Telecommnication in India. The study is conducted in Delhi in the month of February- March 2009.
