Abstract

Child labor continues to be important problem of the country. It is, therefore, warranted that a direct attack on child labor is needed with target approach to achieve effective results in eliminating child labor. Socially the poor masses need to be developed, educated in order to avoid discrimination amongst their children, come out of the complacent mode, self pity in all aspects viz-a viz, economic, social, access to basic amenities etc. Social upliftment of depressed groups at macro level, along with various economic measures need to be identified in order to eradicate the social evil of child labor. Various government programmes like free education, free food and other incentives may go a long way in increasing the level of literacy. To eradicate child labor, government and NGOs should direct their efforts towards the demand, general development, awareness and the sincere implementation of rehabilitation programmes for these working children in order to remove them from work force. The various studies were scrutinized with an objective to discover what themes do they contain. After this a descriptive code word or phrase was designed to define each theme. It is highly unlikely that every article will contain all the themes that we have identified. The literature review then was written thematically.
