Abstract

This research paper explores the transformative potential of collective action among rural women by establishing Women Farmer Producer Companies (WFPCs) in the Osmanabad District. Rural women have historically faced multifaceted challenges, including limited resource access, inadequate market exposure, and a lack of decision-making power. Through a comprehensive analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, this research examines the impact of WFPCs on rural women's socio-economic status, agency, and overall well-being. A sample of 170 women farmers from five women farmer producer companies has been selected for this research. The study employs a mixed-methods approach involving field surveys, interviews, and secondary data collection to provide a holistic understanding of the experiences and outcomes of women engaged in collective farming ventures. The findings of this research highlight the multifarious benefits that WFPCs offer to rural women. These benefits encompass enhanced access to credit, technical knowledge, and market linkages, leading to improved agricultural practices and increased productivity. Additionally, the study sheds light on the role of collective action in fostering self-confidence, leadership skills, and a stronger voice in community decision-making among women farmers.
