Abstract

Farmers Producers Organization provides end-to-end support and services to the small farmers, and cover technical services, marketing, processing, and others aspects of cultivation. India has developed the concept of farmer producer organisations (FPO) in the early 2000s to help small farmers gain economies of scale and improve their market standing by negotiating collectively. FPOs can be a registered company (farmer producer company or FPC) or a cooperative. The aim of the FPO will be achieved only through the customers, who avail the products for their needs. Hence, the performance and constraints of FPOs have been evaluated through consumer’s perception. A study has conducted in Pudukkottai district. Pudhugai Organic Farmer Producers Company has been purposively selected for the study. The data was analysed using Rank Based Quotient. The results revealed that the performance of Pudhugai Organics were satisfactory with the quality of the produce but they were not satisfactory with the price of the product.
