Abstract

An in vitro regeneration protocol was developed for Gerbera jamesonii Bolus cv. Quote in the tissue culture laboratory, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping in the year 2008–09 using calli derived from immature quarter capitulum explants in the modified Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium. About 1/4th part of calli mass was cultured on MS medium fortified with BAP (Benzyl amino purine) at the dose of 2.0 mg/L and Ads (Adenine sulphate) at the dose of 100 mg/L, produced maximum number of probable shoots/explants (2048), and 63.33% culture produced roots, whereas BAP at the dose of 2.5 mg/L, IAA (Indole 3-acetic acid) at the dose of 0.5 mg/L and Ads at the dose of 100 mg/L developed 1680 shoots/explants and the culture produced maximum percentage (86.67) of culture producing roots.
