Panama disease in banana is caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc) and the Tropical race 4 (TR 4) strain is highly devastating that has caused huge loss to banana growers in several Asian countries. This article focuses on the strategic research and developmental activities, and policy approach adopted by Bioversity International and its affiliate Banana Asia Pacific Network in eradicating this dreadful disease in the Asian continents.
