This review highlights the significance of sustainable intensification and its importance in rural livelihood diversification. In agri-centric countries such as India where agriculture contributes heavily to the national GDP; sustainable agriculture plays an important role as 60.6% of land is used for agricultural purposes by half of its population to grow several forms of cereals, vegetables, and pulses. Climate-smart agriculture with resilience need to be practiced in the wake of changing climate. Factors which impart the resilience to agriculture were compiled including the use of plant growth promoting organisms and bio fertilizers. Eventually sustainability in agriculture and its influence on rural economy is discussed.
