Abstract

The present study was concerned with examining various combinations of reagents in the buffer for extraction of seed storage proteins for obtaining reproducible protein subunit band profiles for various genotypes of fennel crop using Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate-Poly Acrylamide Gel Electrophoresis. Results revealed that extraction of proteins from defatted seed floor using buffer containing 0.5M Tris, 5M Urea, 2.5% SDS and 5.0% â-Mercaptoethenol (added at the time of use), adjusted to pH 6.8, yielded maximum and clear subunit bands.
