Abstract

The objective of this article is to compare the performance of three bootstrap confidence intervals (BCIs) using maximum likelihood estimator of a new generalized process capability index, CPysuggested by Maiti et al. (2010) when the underlying distribution is Poisson distribution. This new index can be used for normal as well as non-normal quality characteristics and it is also applicable for discrete and continuous process. Through extensive simulation studies and with two real life examples related to industry data, we compare the performances of three BCIs in terms of coverage probabilities, average widths and respective relative coverage of the index CPy, respectively.
