Abstract

Retention of employees with higher affective commitment is essential for every organization because it is considered a significant predictor of desired organizational outcomes. Employees’ organizational socialization is one of the factors contributing to the development of affective commitment. Hence, this paper aims to shed light on the relationship between organizational socialization and affective commitment among employees in the private sector banking context. The study is descriptive and analytical and is confined to employees in private sector banks in Malappuram district, Kerala. The results reveal the presence of successful organizational socialization among employees of private sector banks with higher affective commitment, and that their organizational socialization has a positive effect on affective commitment. The study’s findings will benefit banking institutions and employees by providing insights into how the socialization process develops and maintains the employees’ affective commitment.
