The air cooled system for engine is usually is in need of a fin design on the cylinder head and cylinder block. Cooling fins are engaged to improve the heat transfer rate over extended surfaces. Performance of an Engine can be improvised with effective cooling. In this concern heat transfer rate of a 2 wheeler engine block with 100cc was determined with elliptical fins of different pitches. An arrangement of Fins according to their pitches is done on the engine block. Solid Works is used to make a model of cylinder with elliptical fins and ANSYS workbench is used to analyze using steady state condition. A model was created with 4mm fin thickness and with varying pitch. Aluminum alloy 6061 as a material with 200 W/mK thermal conductivity was used for analysis of the fins.
